Asian greater celandine thrive in temperate zones
across
East Asia including South Korea.
It’s a biennial plant and found in sunny places
grows up
to thirty to seventy centimeters.
Its leaves are circular and have rounded teeth on the margin.
Yellow flowers are borne in May to August and have four petals.
It’s much hairy when it’s still a flower bud.
Its Korean name is derived from its yellow
and clotted sap
that it evokes the image of baby’s poop.
This sap has been used as a natural pigment.
In traditional Korean medicine, it is used as a pain killer
in spite of toxicity.
