[Korean Native Plants at the Korea National] Korean deutzia
Korean deutzia is found in Hwanghae-do and
the south of northern Gangwon-do.
It’s a deciduous and broad-leaf shrub
belonging to Saxifragaceae.
The plant is endemic to Korea.
White flowers are borne in April to June
and
they are found between rocks.
Its leaves are oppositely arranged, oval-shaped and
have finely toothed edges.
Its Korean name is derived from
its similarity to the ume flower.
Daengangmok, its another name, describes
the sound of snapping a branch.
